This was my first intentional Hadrian purchase. I really like the design. Makes me want to collect all of his travel series!

Rome
Obv: HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P, laureate head right
Rev: AFRICA, Africa with elephant skin headdress, reclining left on rock, holding scorpion and cornucopia, basket of fruit before her.

Excellent coin, I really like the way the patina enhances the emperors face.

Pishpash, Most ancient coins and nealry all of the coins of Rome with exception of AS Graves of the RR are struck coins.

Notice the "veins" in the metal around some of the text and top rear of Hadrians head, these are clear signs of the metal being stressed when it was struck. Hope this helps.

Pish-- it was struck.

Eng-- the blue is green in hand and on my screen. I'm going to soak it in pure acetone just in case it's PVC residue.
