I noticed when you log into the forum, and then log off, and then log back in, all of the unread posts icons are now "read". Is there a way to keep them unread if you haven't actually clicked on the actual thread? Sometimes I log on and have to get back off in a short time for one reason or another. Then when I log back on, I have no idea what I did or didn't read per say...

Does that make sense? It is a great feature already, as I don't have to scroll through page after page, I just wonder if it can be tweaked?

Thanks Pops.
Rest in Peace

Good thought Tights24. I've often bean confused as to what I've read if I've had to log off and on.

In fact it can't. The forum code does not keep info on the actual posts you've read or not, it just compares your last visit date with the post date, showing all later posts as unread. Once you log and login again, your last visit date will be updated... so that changes posts being marked as unread.

I've noticed this also. My internet service sometimes slows down, I get impatient & push the back button one time too many, ending up on another web site. When I come back I can't access the unread posts. I use the "Last 50 Updated Topics" link, not quite as convenient but it works for me.

If your at home and not afraid that someone will post as you and make us hate you , why log off? I almost never log off, my cookie wiper even leaves the CC cookie.

I am lazy and use my laptop while sitting on the couch. It is my work PC, so I take it in with me every morning, hence I shut it down every night. I don't use my desktop in the computer room except for regular applications and games. No big deal.

Rui, thanks for the info. I guess I can assume that this would actually be new lines of code instead of an "adjustment". Regardless, thanks for the input. I guess I will have to get my "mantown" set up in the basement earlier than expected now....

Do you use the active topics page? If you do, you can always select a different value from the drop down at the top left, choosing Last 2 Hours or Last 6 Hours, or even a longer period. That will ensure you "lose" no posts.

Before you log off save the page as a bookmark or favorites,,it should appear just as you left it when you reopen it I ususally just save the all forums page when its important to me to get back to the same place .

Mine does ,, of course you will have to clear the pages out every so often ,,but I know where I left off when I come back .
