Those that are "just lurking" are visitors (members or not) that are not logged in. This includes search engines. So if Google is here indexing a new topic, they're considered "just lurking".

Bobby, I stay logged on all the time. I don't do this on purpose, I just can't remember to log off. Does this cause a problem?

Absolutely not. If there's no activity from you it will remove you from the list after 15 minutes, then if you do something it puts you back.

I almost never log out either.
