At first I thought G-6. But based on the photograde VG-8 looks to be a better match nice!

8. I like the look of that coin, real nice, original looking surfaces.

1919D is one of the toughest to find. It rates an R4 on the rarity index (out of 5). Full rims are key and these look good. The early WLH's grade higher than the later ones. I would say this could be VG10 ($50 coin) and might go F12 ($150 coin) in hand. Nice coin, too bad about the scratch on the obverse. It will be fun to see. I'm in the market for a EF40 and don't see many graded ones at this level.

The reverse is slightly weaker than the obverse. The obverse has stronger lines in the lower drapery than a G06 and the flag on the obverse relief is plenty strong. This certainly makes VG and a 10 in all likelyhood. The surfaces are choice for the grade level. ANA standards might drop the coin to a details level for that scratch. Nice coin sir.

TPG, Rarity scale runs to 10, at least the one I read out of coin facts does. PCGS has this coin as an R2.8 although it does rise to 5.8 at MS60 or better

I use the Bruce Fox R1-R5 ratings. I was still thinking of the EF I'm looking for. I stand corrected. In VG it is a solid 2 out of 5. Very tough to find full rims.

Only the 3 from 1921 are more expensive.

I just did a search for his book. The book was printed in 93 and is selling for $185-$280.

This is my favorite series. I have several versions of it going. Sometime I will try to find the book. I won't pay $200 though. For now I read the David L site and anything else I can find. Enjoy.

Here is a link to a generic grading site http://www.thecoinspot.com/grading/...Walking.html

They don't distinguish the early WLH's from the later ones.

Thanks Night-Hawk. I posted the coinspot one above your post. I find that better then photograde. Much easier to move across grades.
