I am just wondering if a nominee of the seller has bid on his behalf.

It looks like that set sold as a Buy it Now sale. Only 1 bidder. If that set would have been auctioned, I imagine it would have went a lot higher with more bidders. Why would he list it for $1000, sell it, then refund the money?

I like this in the feedback:
Refused to send DVD and refunded money without explanation. i***s
Reply by lanessa2012 (Oct-12-13 11:26): Sellers dont have to provide explanation to refunded money. Duh
Also, the auction listing for the 1995 set states that the payment information is wrong. It's either a really dippy seller or a stolen account.

Only three feedbacks as a seller, 2 negs/1 neutral - something is way wrong with this one, IMHO. The metal alone is worth much more than $1000 and it is including the coveted 1995-W silver eagle. Unholyroller I think you dogged a bullet!

It's a $6,000.00 set raw. Bogus listing and should be reported. But they'll just create another seller account alias and do it all over again.

@rpmes: I am guessing that perhaps the seller got 'cold feet', and changed his mind about selling it.

Even sellers who are ebay "Verified" can commit fraud. I had a terrible experience but fortunately my credit card bailed me out on the loss. The long story from the "grandmother" and her "reasons for delay" went on for a few weeks and she insisted I pay by check or wire transfer rather than credit card. Fortunately I knew better and used my MasterCard. I wonder if the perp were caught as the credit card companies don't take fraud lightly.
