I have run across this 1813 "SUD" Army Revolutionary 8 Reales. I think it is neat but do not know a lot about it except I have not seen one before. Can anyone give me a ballpark value? It is silver dollar sized.

It's a Mexican Oaxaca 8 Reals.

The average value is between $60-180 if copper, $300-600 if silver.

Just came across this article.

Can anybody tell me if these coins are real, and why one is chopped? They are 8 Reales copper. I got them in Mexico.

Thank you.

Cast coins are brittle sometimes - this appears as a mint made defect in which this metal area which is missing just came apart.

There are various reasons for coins being brittle - particularly casts. I have not really investigated the SUDs that deeply.

Not chopped - but popped off <BG>.

The first coin looks alright, Gerryo267's coin on the left does not look right. The devices are very basic and the coin is adjusted on both sides. The broken one, who knows. Might be the light but they do not look like copper.

Second thought, whoo-hoo Halloween candy buzz!! I don't like the right side coin pic. of Gerryo267's coins. Only buy it from an expert reputable dealer.
