1952. Korean War. Sixpences minted - just over 1 million. Halfcrowns, 'one or two to be found' - they stopped production early to conserve metals. This guy her alleges to have one - true? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....hlink:top:ukI can hardly believe it. What do you think? ***Edited by Forum Mom to move to ebay Discussion section***

The first line in the description, written in red pretty much lets you know.
THIS IS A PRIVATE REPRODUCTION SET OF THE 1952 GEORGE VI COINS
The only other thing I guess to make it more clear, would be instead of calling it a "private reproduction" call it a copy or a fake.
He also should have used reproduction in the title as well.

Oh yeah, and the "only one or two of these were made2 part
Since when would a novice be able to figure it out from the info given?
It still expects to mislead, and I would not recommend paying that amount for repro stuff either.

I would be the first one to jump on the bandwagon against shifty sellers on ebay, but in this case I see nothing in his description that shows any ill intent. I think he makes it very clear these are not real coins and even mentions he has only one set but he can make more at a later date.

I must be missing something here.
I have shown you why I think the seller has gone above and beyond to point out these are not real coins. Maybe now you should make your case and show me how this auction was meant to deceive.
And yes my eyesight isn't what it used to be, and yet even I can still see these were being advertised as reproduction coins.

I think the seller was quite clear and even says they are for display purposes only. Where is the deception? The seller has perfect feedback and even states that more may be produced at a later date. He mentions the cent is actually "artificially toned" to appear copper but is made of the same "metal" as the other coins. I think even a novice would understand these are not the real deal. Mike

By ebay's rules, "copy" or "reproduction" should have been in the title. I believe the title is misleading, but the auction description is accurate.
