I have looked through my collection a few times and have not come up with a coin for 1855.

So after 298 posts, I now will have a year without a coin to post. I got a late start and made my first post for this thread with a 2001 coin. I think my collection leans more to modern coins, sort of surprised myself I made it to 1856 with out missing a year.

I do have to say I have seen many coins others have posted, that I would love to have in my collection. And I am sure there will be many more.

1854 was the first year Luxemburg minted its own Centimes (francs would follow only from 1924 onwards)

The bronze 10 centimes:

If ever we see a coin minted in Luxemburg before 1854, it will be under Habsburg rule, during the 18th century.

1854 British copper penny. These huge copper coins were replaced by the more familiar bronze 'bun' pennies in 1860:

I'm not going to post any French coins of this era as others are posting much nicer examples but I do have this oddity.

It's based on the 1854 10 Centimes.
