Attractive coin. Strike OK, but not the sharpest, can't really get a good look at the steps from these pics. Same comments for the moustasche and beard.
No wear on the mace heads or shell at the top of the scroll frame. Beard and moustache also show no wear. Has to be at least Unc.
I prefer Sheldon in Unc. grades, so MS62, toned, would be 63 with a sharper strike but bear in mind I can't get a really good look at the strike.
Rennicks list it at $450, so I think it could be bought at $300-$350 + commission, but also depends on strike quality.
If you have done better than that, you have a good buy.

Thanks for the comments and I bought it for $297 in total including postage and quietly hoping for MS65 when I get around to sending it in to PCGS and on the point of steps I think it is at the least around 2 steps from what I can see when I zoom in also just wondering but can anyone point out the scratches the only ones that I can see is a few on the bust but nothing that looks that bad.

That style of photograph (reflecting light into the lens) hides scratches, only extremely severe ones would appear in that photo.

Take some pic's when this arrives also a couple of scans and post them so we can get a better look at this coin. Getting anything over MS64 in these is pretty tough. The number of steps on these coins lets you work out the quality of the strike I don't usually like these so toned but this one is quite attractive

Hi OMF, I viewed the coin. It is a lovely 64 with a good shot at a 65.

Nice coin serial , MS grade but the little warning bells are going off in my head here. I can't quite put my finger on why but this looks like it has suffered from repeated dipping. It may just be how you have photographed the coin and I could be totally wrong, I really hope I am.

yeh I am not that good at pics and it is in a 2x2 that tends to reflect a bit. in hand it cartwheels nicely and has good lustre, I was just not sure about the break in the more and there is a big bag mark on one of the sceptres do you think its worth getting graded?

It certainly won't hurt the coin Mate Probably cost you about $40 to do it, So if you are happy with the costs why not

Grading-wise, I am pretty stingy, but with the more detailed pics, I would say that you have an MS64 coin.
1 1/2 steps, flagpoles and beard a little indistinct.
With less tone, 2 1/2 steps, sharper flagpoles and beard, it would have made MS66. Condition-wise, I have seen only one better.
I have had the chance to compare a proof and a perfect business strike side by side, at an I.S. Wright auction view day. The step detail on the business strike was better. The gem perfect business strike must have been one of the first struck from new dies.
At $297, you have done good.

I have a PP album full of these coins and only about half a dozen 3 steppers in varying grades, SO YES a 3 stepper is not a common find in my personal experience with these coins. To get a PCGS grade of MS66 or better I would imagine that the 3 steps must be evident on the coin or it wouldn't make the grade due to the quality of the strike. I May be wrong (The Gods know I have) , But that is my take on the situation
