Not sure what it is but I found a rather heavy large coin. Size of a JFK half dollar. Has queen Victoria on the front with crown and united states one dime on back. I'm not thinking it's real just curious what it is. Seems old or at least very used.

to the forum! Sounds interesting though not like any coin I have heard of. However, it is difficult to say much without pictures. Any chance you can post some?

I can tell you the back is that of Mercury dime minted in san Francisco and it weighs about 20.9g. It is larger than a JFK half dollar I compared the two when taking the pictures.

Sorry for posting so much but after doin some research it seems to have the queen off the 1847 gothic crown coin. With only the words Queen Victoira around it.

I cannot tell you what it is but it is definitely not any kind of genuine coin, UK or US.

I'm guessing magic or trick coin. Just a guess though.

Whatever it is, it's a fascinating piece of thinking on the part of its' creator.

That might just be the strangest thing I've seen today. No country would use an obverse of one nation and a reverse of another, not even for a commemorative! A curiosity. How did you find it?

Nice half by the way! I have a 1968-D myself just like yours, my only silver half!

The obverse isn't a gothic crown, by the way. The legend and portrait are consistent with the British Regal coinage of Hong Kong (which may be a clue to the location of the makers of this fantasy coin!). Similar to issues of British India, but here Vicky has a bit more revealing décolletage. The design is found on the one-, five-, and ten-cent coins, but I believe the makers intention was to have the coin be both sides a dime!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. It's just as a mystery to me as all of you. I found it in a small old cigar box in my attic when I moved into my house a little over a year ago. It seems at the top it has a spot where possibly it could have been attached to a necklace but I'm not sure.

I don't think it's pot metal and it's gotta be to heavy to be aluminum. It's not magnetic and it has a nice high pitch ring when flipping the coin.

Possibly an idea coin made by both the US and England to make a coin used by both. Would take the place of the US Ike dollar coin. For sure not originated in the US or the Obverse would be US and the Reverse would be the UK. Or just a drink glass coaster.
