Anything new about ProCoin problem?

I have not heard anything new. Since my last post about ProCoin I've been testing free trials of software, CoinManage I think was one, I already forgot what the other was and I've also been trying out freeware deals from CNET, and I have found that I don't like any of them. I broke down and finally paid for Coin Catalog Pro and that was a waste of my money, I used it for one day and that was it. I have since decided to brush up on my excel skills and I'm just revamping my spreadsheet that I was able to export from ProCoin. Thank God I did it when I still had the chance. I'm lost without my ProCoin.

Finding myself in the same situation as others that have collections in Pro Coin, and unable to access it, I did the following: I viewed one of the Pro Coin tables (viewed as text) and found that it was using a SQLLite3 database. I then found a ODBC driver for SQLlite3, (any will do, but I found this one here)- http://web.synametrics.com/SQLite.htmI set up the ODBC connection and dumped the tables into MS Access I did a little research and found another piece of software (CM) that uses MS Access. After purchasing the software, I opened up the sample database, and used the Database Relationship tool in Access to figure out where and how to populate the tables in the new Coin Management software. I now have my collection back. :>)

In my opinion you cannot go wrong with Excel. Once you have your spreadsheet laid out the way you like it, it is easy to update and add to it.......and I cannot foresee any legal issues in the future.

I actually found a way to still use my Pro-Coin software. Of course there are no updates but I can manually change the coin prices when needed. I've not yet attempted to enter any new coins but I imagine that it shouldn't be any problem to do so. What I realized was every time I opened Pro-Coin, it ran extremely slow, sometimes to the point where it looked like it was froze up. What I assume it was attempting to do was to connect to a Web address somewhere to validate something, possibly my account, I'm not sure. What I did was to go into my network settings in the Windows Control Panel and shut down the network adapter so it wasn't able to connect to the internet and try to do whatever it was doing and the program works normally. I believe it would do the same if I were to just unplug the Ethernet cable, but I find it easier to just shut down my network adapter. I hope this helps someone else to be able to still use the software, like I stated, there are no updates to prices or new coins, but at least it's usable.

Tried the fix of turning off internet for fixing ProCoin but it didn't work for me. The program kept me in the 'trial' edition and wouldn't let me download the backup.
If you got any other ideas let me know.
By the way, I started with Coin Manage (Liberty Street) and that one refused to boot up after using it two years. And 27 emails( and one snail mail) later, NO REPLY.
Guess I'm not very Lucky

Has anyone used Trove Software (Coin Elite)?
It says it can transfer ProCoin files.

I know this thread is a bit old, but I am desperate. I have a very large database of years worth of input using MWP Pro-Coin 2012. My hard drive had to be replaced, so I lost the software. I have a backup of the PCB file, but I no longer have the executable to re-install the software.
I understand that the company has gone out of business, so I realize I will have to move on to another software package... I just get sick to my stomach thinking about having to start from absolute scratch. It would be great if I could export the data onto a CSV, SQL, Excel, MS Access, or any other usable database format. Even a PDF... Anything where I can at the very least copy the data, and not have to inspect tens of thousands of coins all over again.
If any of you have a copy of the executable so I can at least install and print a report or export, or any of you can tell me how I can import the PCB file into another product, I will be forever grateful.
Thank you in advance!

Try Coin Catalog Pro, on another forum somebody said it could import the old ProCoin database.

Thanks oper997. I did try that software. It was unable to import the file. It actually looked like the software was very poorly written. The menu options were not all working as expected, and the import options were only available after closing the default database. After that, the option to import was not able to recognize the PCB file as a "valid import source."

Thanks BStrauss3. I did see that post, and I tried to do something along those lines, but was unsuccessful.

I was able to get my Pro-Coin data into Coin Catalog Pro program.
CCP doesn't accept the Pro-Coin default data type (.pcb or something) but I had luck exporting the data to Report excel format, then importing into Coin Catalog Pro. Takes a little work, but am satisfied with the results.

Thank you for your reply flyingeagle3. Unfortunately all I have is the PCB file. I don't have the software to install, so that I can export like you did. I would appreciate it tremendously if I could send my PCB file to someone who has the software, and get him/her to send me back an exported file I can use. I don't care if it is plain text, CSV, Excel, or anything. Currently I can't read any of it. If I could at least see the data, even on a piece of paper, then I could type it manually into a new program. That would be better than what I have today, which is nothing. :-)
