Well... to me it looks like a 43 but you've got a problem with it being copper. Unless...?

I looks like the remanence of a 1948? IMO

Probably an altered date 48'.

Even if it was real there is no way anyone could prove it enough so that they would shell out big money for it.

They used to alter the 1948 to look like a 1943 copper. But the "3" on the date is so different, people should have known better. It also looks like it had at least two acid baths.

I pulled this coin out of a 5000 count Wheat cent bag between 1982-83. I've had it ever since as a novelty item mainly.

Its always nice to see a wide variety of answers, and all appreciated.

I did have an extra slot on a voucher I received a while back for some free grading and I did send it in. I'll show that label in a few days.

1943 but is just as likely to be a 1948.
