Hello,
Please tell me what is going on with the D mint mark.
Even when one compares a normal-looking D mint mark to the one in this photo it seems as if the left bolt(protruding upwards through the slippery American elm of the yoke) is positioned too close to the D mint mark piece currently pointing to the 8 o'clock position.
Even if an object forcefully contacted this D mint mark coming from the 8 o'clock position and consequently sheared off a part of the mint mark's upper region; the lower part still in contact with the field should not be as close to the left(viewer's left) bolt as it is now.
Please explain if this is just
PMD or some other phenomenon occurring.
