I bought a 1965 Charlton's the other day to have a piece of Canadian coin collecting nostalgia. It will be interesting to see the change in values of some of our more precious coins from then 'til now.

I would be interested in knowing what it says for the 1947 Maple Leaf and 1948 dollars.

You could rent a house for $80 a month in 1963 and buy a new car for under $3000, so question for all. Has the 1948 Dollar in Unc. been a good investment? ..........................IMHO ..... not a chance!

OK - using those comparisons the $3,000 car can be bought today for $18,000 - so 6 X increase.

The $80 bucks a month rent is now $1000 - a 12 X increase.

Same $80 invested in the BU '48 dollar at that time is now worth MS60 $1,800 to $3,200 MS63 -

or 22 X to 40 X increase.

How is that not a good investment

And if you got one in 1948 for a dollar - depending on grade,
it's now worth 1,800 to 3,000+ times your investment -

What else can you think of that has increased in value that much over time

Here's some pics of 1958 Charlton guide:

Awesome pictures and information! I asked in relation to the 1948 vs 1947ML thread I started, but I don't want to hijack this topic. @ScottsCanadian - by comparison, the 1947ML today is MS60 $450 to MS63 $900 - roughly 6x to 13x.
