Hey guys I do a bit of metal detecting and occasionally I get some strange ones come up, Can someone please tell me what this coin is and the date/period it was produced in. I have searched the best I can but to no avail, I think for someone that knows their business it shouldn't be too hard as the coin has a unique 'dot above' pattern on the back..

Thanks.

As far as I can tell from identification sites, it's almost certainly Tao Kuang (Qing dynasty), Boo Ciowan (Peking) mint.
No idea why the dot above. And whatever all of that damage is doesn't help either (if that's not a ridiculously rare variety - which it probably isn't - it makes an already ridiculously cheap coin basically worthless).

Thanks January1may, the value etc wasn't important it was the age 1821 - 1850 that makes it the oldest coin I've found metal detecting ..
