I got my 2 rolls of Mt Rushmore ATBs yesterday. I get one roll to keep intact and one to sell. When I opened the boxes and saw the coins on the end I was like Whoa! These things look almost like the proofs from the 50's. Best ones yet, quality wise.

Anyone else have the same happy results?

I took pics, but really could not catch just how awesome they are...

Don, I bought the P, D and S 100-coin bags and I noticed that as well first thing when they were opened this afternoon. The S's look real good, but I've had some good S's from the Great Basins as well. The ones that really impressed me were the Denver quarters because their quality to me has been really lacking in previous ATB releases. The Denver mint QA department must have finally woke up after a long summer hibernation. The Philly's were lackluster so far in my bags.

Actually, I'm just as wowed by my Mount Rushmore D's.
Got ten rolls of them and they are all very well struck, attractive, with little to no hits on the fields. Close to the "S" coins' quality, whereas "S" are usually three grades higher on the MS scale than P and D business strikes.

The "culls" I've spent (one roll so far) were better than many of the early "D" ATB's I saved

OK that's interesting. The experience I've had is exactly the opposite. The P mint ATBs that I have gotten through the whole series have pretty much sucked. The D mint rolls have been pretty good. I got tired of sending back the Ps and complaining. Though I did have one D roll of Perry's victory that looked like they had been put in a paint shaker thry had so many hits and scratches. But that was it.

I totally agree about the Philly quarters. They have been the worst so far, by far. I guess I didn't put it the right way in my last response, but the Philly Rushmore quarters were as bad as usual, so nothing new there. The new part was the higher quality of the Denver quarters. I don't know, maybe Dick Peterson needs to send some folks from the Denver and Philly mints over to San Francisco... or the other way around... to see how they wash their planchets and treat their finished coins.

Another funny thing that I've noticed is that the Denver mint dollars, both presidential and sacagawea (NA), are worse than the Phillies. Denver can't do dollars and Philly can't do quarters, IMO.

smokeriderdon, these are coins I get from the Denver Mint Gift Shop.
My P-Mint rolls are BU bank rolls, so in neither case do my ATB Quarters come from Mint-wrapped rolls.

Agreed, the P-mint BU rolls I've opened are generally not as good as my Denver rolls.
I had a roll of Chaco P's that were so bad, I spent half of them.
And that variety is tied for second-lowest mintage in the series
One 'exception' was a great roll of Hawaii Volcanos-P's
Also had a roll of El Yunque-P's that were nice.

For Denver, 90% of the Perrys had tons of field hits
Earlier on, the Vicksburgs all looked gray and dingy.
Most of the Hot Springs D's I got were subpar.
The Rushmores are the best batch I've had in three years of Denver Mint ATB coins, all $100 of them looking almost as good (or as good!) as my Rushmore-S Quarters.

I get the mint rolls. Dont have the money for 100 bags. Got the P&Ds today. Gotta say, first blush, these look very very nice. Seem to be the best in a while.
