I like purchasing BU rolls from different sites and digging through them, As long as it isn't a "coin dealer" your odds of finding RPM's may go up some.

I purchased two rolls not too long ago of 1961-D Lincolns, mainly to get coins to fill the gaps in our binders. Our Goal is to have at least 50 of each coin (normal) to take to the show, from 1955 to 1980.

These rolls were kind of a surprise.

Roll #1 had 17 of these;

and I have 32 of these from the other roll;

I like it when deals like these come along, It allows me to semi-fill both the binders for the common coins, and fill up the cases on the tables with RPM's.

Of the two pics above, the bottom one looks like its a candidate for a D/D/D. It looks close to 049, but the markers aren't there. I'll look through the coins and see if I can find a common marker. Right now, the obvious markers on this single coin are a 45-degree scratch on the top area of the column where Lincoln is seated (on reverse), and in the column area LEFT of Lincoln there are horizontal scratches located near the bottom 1/3 between columns. This is what I am talking about;

ALL of the potential D/D/D coins show the "45 degree angle scratch" but at various strenths"

From what I can tell, all of the D/D/D have the "East-West" scratches in between the columns LEFT of Lincoln

I give you credit... The intricacies of these variations make my eyes burn after less than an hour of staring. I really don't know how you keep it up...

The lighting is the important thing. I don't care how these pics come out for the most part, as long as the lighting doesn't strain the eyes. It makes a Huge difference.
I blink a lot, I force myself to get into the habit. I do take a lot of breaks, but only when I need to.

I do use an AmScope Stereo microscope and a microscope camera, which helps. I hook up the camera to the laptop and all is well.

Out of a roll of 1962 proof cents I found about 10-12 interesting ones. I'll have to get images in a few days to show everyone. I found a real strong machine doubled proof.
