Given my quest to find a reasonably priced 7070 has been futile, I came across a National Coin Type Set Album. It was cheaper than a 7070.

Pros - Hopefully I will get some good toning after a few years and the album just looks cool.
Cons - It isn't as extensive as a 7070.
- It also has slots for the pre-1800 coins (flowing
hairs, etc.)which means it would cost a fortune to
complete.

Nevertheless, it should look pretty cool. Should be fun to fill, even if I have to leave a few holes.

Here are a couple photos. It appears to have never been used. Pretty cool.

Looks like it is in pretty good shape. I have seen a few of them over the years.

What have you seen the 7070's selling for .... I've one I am thinking about selling.

Looks like $35-40 if opened and brand new in plastic are $60+

Has anyone put any coins in one of these? Do they tone as well as all the legendary tales claim?

I can only answer with respect to copper cents as those are the only coins that I have in this album type. From what I have, the copper coins do not seem to tone much. Some of the cents are still very bright, though I am somewhat unsure if some of the darker ones had a little darkening from fingerprints or something before they were put into the album. The 1913 penny in the pictures below has been in this album a minimum of 50 years, and may have been longer. Several of the 1930's BU cents have some small dark spots. The storage condition for these has not been excessively hot and humid (Michigan), though also not climate controlled.
