This is a 1964 penny with strikingly uneven denticles, which seem incredibly large at top. Has anyone seen anything like this before?

In my opinion, it seems like the rim isn't quite as sharp at the bottom where they look smaller, perhaps it is just ever so slightly off-centered?

Thanks for the comment, ClarkCoins. Quite a lot of the Oz pennies are a bit off-centre, though, and they don't look like this. So I tend not to think that's not the cause.

The rim looks fairly even all the way around, I would guess a mis-aligned die, tilted slightly. Just my opinion..

I have to agree, gentlemen. I realised later that - not being used to looking at such things - I was subject to an optical illusion. It is just off-centering here.
