Nice luster...I'd go with a conservative 64.

I'll give everyone the answer (grade given by NGC) when there are many replies.

hint: so far, it hasn't been hit yet. :-)

I would personally grade this as MS63, but I think NGC would have given it a 64. For me, there are a few too many hits in the field to go above 63. She's really beautiful!

Well, it's been about 3 days now, so I'll give you guys the answer.

I'm surprised. No one hit it on the spot.

NGC Officially graded this coin as : MS66 (yes, Six Six)

Apparently, the photo doesn't do the coin justice at all. The coin looks 10x clearer and with twice the luster in person. That's what bumped it up so much higher.

Sorry, but the hits in the obverse right field precluded a grade above 64 in my opinion. On a 66 coin, I don't expect to see anything with the naked eye.

66 is a tough grade and NGC apparently saw something in this coin.

67 and up seems to be so rare for pre-1930s. yes?

I'm still looking for a steel penny that MS67+, but have yet to find anything over MS66. :-/ it's that zinc/steel combination that's naturally corrosive.
