I give the an coin AU50 grade. The coin is unusually dull, but has some mint luster. I just thought it would be fun to see how many will disagree.

The coin is for sale and I will be listing it on ebay or on this forum tomorrow.

If the luster is really lacking, AU50 might be right due to probably being overdipped. It appears to AU55+ detail, though.

IMO the coin has not been dipped due to the presence of some original luster. Repeated dippings would have stripped the coin of the frost and replaced it with a shiny and too clean apparance.

I think the grey toning is due to the storage method, and a slight difference in the surface lamination when compared to other "flashy" AU's.

I could buy AU50 for this one. It'd probably spark a feeding frenzy on ebay.

"It'd probably spark a feeding frenzy on ebay."

That's funny, I don't care who you are.

Very true. I put in the listing that I don't feel that the coin is cleaned, but if it was then it would be a light, old cleaning. The buyer will be happy with this coin, it looks better than my pics.

I think it's a very nice looking coin, cleaned or not. Just in case, I'll likely watch it. Your auctions are pretty professional, though, so I'm probably out of luck.

You don't know how much your compliment means to me. I work very hard on this, and to know someone with experience sees my effort makes my day.

Many thanks to you.

I hope someone on this forum wins it. I will ship it for free to a coin community winner. I don't usually use a reserve, but it is a low $399.

So, I'm curious, what did it finally go for? Only if you want to tell.
