I also got this one today, its in an older PCGS holder. Its graded and then was sold by a LARGE and WELL KNOWN local coin shop as white lustrous choice AU. Thoughts?

I think that "choice AU" is a bit....optimistic for this one. AU50 at the outside. Nice at the grade - certainly a worthy addition to the collection - but not "choice."

Please don't characterize your postings this way. Commerce is a privilege we extend to members whose time and commitment indicates they're here for the community, not the money. Those who post here for the specific purpose of qualifying to buy and sell tend to disappear. That's not what we're about.

You have some nice stuff, and knowledge you're quite willing to share, every indication that you can be the type of person who fits in nicely with our community. Do that, your qualifications will come, and we'll all get along well.

Thanks Super Dave, they used to call me that too. And I completely got it. I am a new kid on the block in Spokane and am more of a gold expert (raw and rare natural specimens) who finds himself in the coin business quite fast. I did join the PCGS, I have a VERY good friend who is very very well known here mentoring me. I am also on a couple other forums but this one by FAR is best!

I appreciate this community and I'm gonna post a really col double struck NOT one cent (with an odd headband) in the tokens area. Watch for that, I'm seriously curios as I have not found another exactly like it!

AU-50 at tops if you sell it without a slab with a disclaimer about the subjectivity of grading in general...

XF-45 if PCGS or NGC get a hold of it to slab

Whatever you do decide to do, please post the grading results and related photo to this thread.

thanks

I am thinking XF45, AU50 tops. The 42/1 overdate is always in demand, just a bit out of reach for myself in one chunk, especially in the higher grades. I like the older "solid" gaskets that PCGS used to have.
