I read a lot of these have been gutted for the choice coins and replaced with dipped or less than stellar examples. I believe this set to be entirely original and for the price I paid, I sure hope so.

Are you able to offer any insight as to what you think based on the pics shown?

thanks for any assistance

thanks Larry
no, it does not look too dark in-hand
its a really nice example and if I did not want to break the set up, its one the few I would send it to be graded and then resold
but my plan is to just keep this set intact and enjoy it for a while before resale

I'm in it at $350 which seems to be a decent price compared to what is out there that is A) priced higher and B) has been gutted of nice mottled coins and replaced with obvious dipped and less than original as part of the original package that came from the mint. Most folks seem to want over $400 for this set and I am comfortable to hold at my buy price for a while and just enjoy the coins as well as share with the CCF

From experience there is only one thing that disturbs me about that set -- but it's critical.
Because the cardboard had a significant sulfur content the coins (particularly the silver) most often have quite a bit of toning.
I don't see that in your images.

Exceptionally good set?
Replaced coins?
Cleaned coins?
That judgment is beyond me, but something to consider.

The dimes look a little out-of-place... The white of the silver contrasts with the (silver color) of the nickels and even the franklins...

thank you for the feedback everyone

its the pics which are the sellers and he washed out with the lighting. I will post my own this weekend. each coin is very mottled and toned with full luster wheels intact on most. those denver pennies are INCREDIBLE. they bleed luster with rainbows all over them, I will try to capture that and post it for sure.

The 'S' Franklins don't look as toned as the rest. Other than that, they look original to me.

I started putting a set of these together a while back. The early one do get pricey.
