I have several including a 60 small date proof and a 70 small date unc all are still in the OGP but I was wondering if I wouldn't be better to remove them and place in some other type of holder for the long term protection

I hate suggesting that modern mint sets be removed from packaging but if you really care about the coins then you probably should take them out and stabilize them in acetone. The '70 sm dt cent has suffered a lot of tarnish already and is likely to get worse in time. About half of them have significant damage.

Be sure to use good reholdering supplies.
