I would still love to learn how they get them... I've talked to my bank about bricking... first problem to get around is having your account flagged... the second problem is the fee's they were going to charge for getting a brick were out of the world... 20% above face...

I just didn't think one would get enough quality serial number to cover the costs for an expenditure.

I also don't have a good enough relationship with any of the "brickers" I know of to ask how they get it done... if you know a bit Banknotes would you mind messaging me and letting me know how they do it?

I think most of them have been dealing with the same bank (and tellers) for years, so the tellers don't mind filling out the extra paperwork to order in new brinks.

They do still need to pay fees to get them ordered, I believe the cost is around $25-$30 per brick (on average). The main reason they are doing it is to help in the discovery of new insert ranges.

$25 per brick is pretty reasonable...

When I went to ask my bank they were like.. any special orders would be $10-$20 per bundle... to me that was CRAZY!

But $30 per bundle is reasonable...

I try to help out with the SNDB myself... but nothing on the level of some of the entries... I'm actually jelous!

I think the best one to answer your questions is Brent on the paper forum.. he's the moderator of the SNDB

Here is a basic answer to the question of what the SNDB is used for. (Quoted from Brent)

Quote:
The Serial Number Database is the fusion of several key initiatives:
1) Tracking of highs and lows for each prefix
2) Tracking changeovers
3) Tracking replacement note ranges
4) Collecting data for research purposes

"Duty" is a rather strong word... It makes it sound like a job or a requirement. All notes entered to the SNDB are entered voluntarily by members of this site. Your contributions help all of the above four initiatives. Every note counts, and every one is appreciated.

We encourage all members to enter all of their notes (exceptions are for notes in sequential runs; see (1), (2) and (3)). Even if your note is not near a high, low, replacement range or changeover, it helps fill in those "in between" areas. This is important because if something comes up later, such as a new variety, etc., that data will help us figure out what's going on.

I hope this reply has been helpful.
