Auction in the books. In my opinion, it was a great auction for buyers and the seller. Some items were a little low, some were a little high.
I prepared my list, checked pricing sources, noted what price I was willing to pay, and stuck to it!
There were a little over 60 coins on my list that I did bid on. Special attention to three - 1877
IHC in G, 1909 S in XF, 1909 S Lincoln in F.
The 1877 sold just north of 500. Coin would only grade G at a
TPG. Problem free, but a G.
The 1909 S
IHC in XF also sold north of 500. This was a true, problem free XF coin - XF40 in my opinion. Would have been the perfect coin for my set. A dealer and I were bidding rather hard against each other....I even advised him that his vehicle was being towed from the parking lot when we hit the $550 mark - the crowd and him got a good laugh out of that. But, it was not to be.
The 09 S Lincoln - was actually closer to VG. Might make a F12. I stopped bidding at 55.
But, all was not lost. :)
A poured 10 oz bar came home with me. So did an unsearched $50 face bag of Wheat cents (look for this bag to be sold on CCF - I got a good deal and going to pass on this unsearched bag (+ shipping).
Went outside of the normal series that I collect. Purchase a 1921 S Walking Liberty in G, 1943 Walking Liberty, raw - MS64/65 - reverse is STUNNING - couple ticks on the obverse, three O mint
Morgan dollars - XF, AU, and MS, 10 rolls of 1960 D small date UNC Lincolns, 1870/1898/1899
IHC's in XF for my set, and some cool world coins (for the grand daughters). Oh...and one LUCKY PENNY with a 1927 Wheat squeezed into the center of it.
ALMOST purchased a PCGS VG08 graded 1893 S Morgan for $1500 - I was high bidder, auction died...auctioneer was close to hammering the auction done, then the bidding continued. I stopped at 2000.
Also chased a raw 1897 O north of 2K. Coin is a solid MS62 and more than likely a MS63.
Only a couple dealers in attendance and the balance were collectors.
