Here is a picture of an 1886 over 6 coin pictured in the "One cent Victorian die varieties" section of the Charleton Catalog. I noticed that while the picture has one thin line under the 6, the coin I found a week ago has a distinct triple impression. I really need to know what all of you think. ***(as edited ) -- The obverse is OC2, NOT the OC1a usually associated with the 6/6 variety.

Could you include more pics of the complete coin on both sides?

A close up of the bottom of the bust would be good as an extra pic....

That is a very interesting 6 ...when compared to the Charlton catalogue 6. Very cool variety..

I don't have this variety, but I collect repunched dates and overdates from many mints.
To my eyes, there would have to be at least 2 digits underneath--one punched slightly higher, only showing inside the loop, and another punched below at a greater distance. Usually, a large portion of the underlying date is polished away, leaving only traces of the older digits.

I went to the coin dealers today to see if he had any.
I also found a re-punched 6 in the OC2. Mine only has the single line under the 6. It is not nearly as neat as yours yontan but we now know it exists in both OC2 and OC1a.
Mine only came in fine condition.

This is the coin listed in Some Die Varieties of the Large Cents of British North America And Canada by Jack Griffin Monograph 1 2nd edition published by Charlton Books. 1886 DP6 Gr-114 rarity 4 I don't have this coin in my collection but I do have others of obverse 1a I only looked for them.
