Hi everyone! I'm new here. I don't have much experience with error coins, but I'm hoping I've got one here. Either that or it was involved in some bizarre accident...

Also note the depression in the rim directly south of the defect on both sides.

Nice Clipped Planchet coin. The weakness on the opposite rim from the clip is known as "Blakesley Effect". Have a read here...it is full of information on this error type. http://koinpro.tripod.com/Articles/...gnostics.htm

Yup. The weakened rim opposite the clip is the marker to look for on a naturally clipped coin. And it will be on both the obverse and the reverse of the coin. Congrats!
