What are some good pointers in identifying fake confederate bills? If you guys want to add pictures of fake ones versus real ones, that would be helpful. I was at a public auction yesterday and it had a book full of confederate and foreign bills. I wasn't sure, for some reason, I felt they were fake. All help will be appreciated.

A lot of the times it is just the serial number that helps determine if its a fake. Here is a good website for looking up those numbers:

Most have the same look to the paper, but I do not have any pictures to help

Okay, so basically if it has a large serial number it is probably fake? They didn't make any with 7 or 8 digits did they?

They inked high numbers, but it does seem like most fakes have a long serial number.

The best method is to look at the paper quality - most have a brownish coloring to the paper(i wish I had a picture to show)

Well, something just didn't seem quite right about the ones at the auction, so I didn't go for them. I don't know what it was, maybe the paper. I wish I would have took a picture or paid attention to the serial number.
