Hey All, Just got this coin yesterday.
Could NOT pass up the deal I was offered from a Shop. $4
Not looking for an exact grade, I know the pictures leave quite a bit to desire(Camera phone, Its what I have where I am at right now).

That's a good deal, but it's very hard to see the coin from the pics.

All I can say is it's at least XF details, and likely AU.

I can't tell if surfaces are genuine, or what are the dark areas on the obverse.

Try taking the pictures with less angel, and preferably no flash.

I'll have to try and get it with a real camera. All I had at the time was a Camera phone, and Magnification. And obviously, terrible lighting

Even with good pictures, cleaning gives me trouble.
However, this date, along with the 1899-S and 1900-S, were sent to the Philippines
after the Spanish American War. They were often cleaned.

That being said, $8.00 (twice the price) would still be a great score.

I see that you are on the west coast. That increases the chances that it was cleaned.
Was this a coin shop or a pawn shop?

Thank you all for the info.
Matthewvincent - Very interesting, I did not know that about those years...Spending 2 years in the Philippines and I learn new stuff about the relationship between the 2 numistically all the time!

I picked it up at a Kinda coin shop, he deals with bullion mainly, but has a great collection from all his years in business. I ended up selling it to another shop when I needed a little extra Christmas money.
The pictures I took did not do it justice, it had some nice luster, not washed out like most dipped/cleaned coins.
