What month do they typically come out? I see there's a 2008 out now, so when is the 2009 one coming?
Thanks

Just like auto manufacturers with car model years, the latest RedBook edition is usually released in the spring with the following years date. The 2008 edition was released in April I believe but the months can sometimes vary.

The 2008 RedBook came out in mid-April, and so did the 2007 a year before that.

Is there an electronic version available? I think it'd be cool to have all the previous years compiled into a single database so you could track trends.

BadThad: No, there is no electronic version, yet. And yes, they come out in the spring, normally, although this year the 2008 came out very early.

Being a Red Book collector I still remember way, way back when they would come out in the fall similar to cars. I would always remember to go looking for them when the new cars came out. Then, and only recently they started this nonsence of appearing in the early Spring. When you consider it takes Months to compile the information is such a book and Months to print them, this would indicate the 2008 version was started about mid-year 2006. That is why the prices are a complete joke. If Whitman continues this practice I would guess the 2009 version is being made now and by the Fall, they would be working on the 2010 edition. Eventually Whitman will make a 2015 edeition in 2010. In case you are a purchaser of the Red Book you may want to turn to what could be right after page 400. There is a special offer for something free from Whitman. According to Dennis Tucker, Publisher at Whitman, there are 3 different offers put in each book at random. Mine was for a free Presidential dollar folder. At a coin show a dealer told me he went through 35 Red Books and all were for that same thing. Some people have found an offer for a large book of some kind.

Carl: I also collect the red books, and the blue. So far, two complete sets (1947, both printings, to date). Plus errors, signed editions, special editions, what ever. How about you? Anything special? Anyone else collect them?
