I have googled til I am red in the face I bought a mint set off ebay that has different P&D tokens the normal ones I've seen alot of are super common these ones seem very plain if memory serves and I have had numerous mint sets the tokens were the same 1959-1970 just curious if anyone has seen this when it arrives in the mail I will post a picture I just cant find info on this occurence they are just plain looking state uncirculated coins of whichever mint hopin this signifies a late 1964 strike or perhaps the 64's struck in 65 would be cool

My unfounded theory...struck late out of tokens no more were purchase account the 1965-1967 "special mint sets" 1968 mint sets returned and they went back to the old design of tokens think I am onto something opinions?

Another possibility is an aftermarket made up set, not a genuine mint set. How about a link to the auction?

I'm pretty sure this is a put together aftermarket set. The token doesn't look naything like something from a governemnet set, the P and D pliofilm sets have one side in red from one mint and blue from the other. I'm not seeing that here unless you have cropped it out in your picture. and the sealing wheels that create the seals also impress the words you S Mint into the seal and I do not see that either. Also note the word MINT on the token is expressed as "MINT".

Hello all, I do not know how the US Mint packaged them, but could it be one of the rare 1964 SMS coins. I came across them when I was looking up 1964 LMC proofs. The only pics I seen online were of the coins only. Hope this helps and if they are "Congratulations" on the find.

The 1964 SMS coins were not packaged, the coins exist but they were never assembled into "sets" by the Mint.

It would be interesting to see a close-up. I know they aren't really SMS but can't rule it out from the picture alone.

I've seen various privately packaged sets and there are often tokens such as these with them. This token is a little "fancier" than most.

You can always give it to me if you don't want it.
