Anyone here have experience buying in Mexican flea markets or coin stores ect?

Is U.S. cash accepted without hassel or is it preferred?

Is there lots of pre-1970 silver down there for sale?

Or could you stay in Texas and find lots of stuff there.

I do understand you would have to proceed with caution and not be seen often with a had full of cash. I do speak a little spanish, not enough though to get myself out of a bad situation in a hurry.

From what I hear, there is plenty of silver to be found in Mexico, especially those .100 fine pesos.

I would try paying in Mexican pesos, because smacking down some U.S. bills (with, of course, an English accent) can seem maybe arrogant, presumptuous, etc. (and it marks you as more foreign than you already are).

I'm Canadian and would certainly let them know that with a Canada lapel pin or something. And even speaking bad spanish, gets your foot in the door in a lot of places.

I couldn't though do business in pesos's because I don't know the currency that well. I know my Mexican coins but not current exchange rate.

Yes they are happy to accept dollars in most places you will be going. Just try to bargain to the exact dollars that you have. Most are not real big on giving change.
