I was watching the coin show and later went to the website. During the Christmas season they are letting the buyer pay in up to 6 months to pay. You pay an equal amount each month for up to5-6 months interest free. This is like an interest free loan, because of Christmas you get up to 6! Months instead of 4 to pay for your purchases. The coin show is on until Monday and they have unique daily specials, this afternoon they had the praying mantis coin for $48 instead of $69. Now they have the half Oz yr of snake for $29. Instead $48. Also any purchases over $150, enter SHIP150 for free shipping.

So you are only paying TWICE what they are worth and get to regret it over six months. I'll pass...

I like the idea. think about it instead of losing a chunk of your coin budget, losing your money, and regretting the purchase for 4 months you regret it and lose your$ for 6 months.
Feel free to call me Will.

I think TSC can be a great way to buy coins, especially the more expensive ones. When they are new and available at issue price, it's nice to be able to pick them up with the easy pay option. A 5 Oz. coin that can be unaffordable at $500, is now only $100 per month for five months. On TSC website, there are even some Kilo coins. I would never be able to afford $2250 for a coin...but $374 for 6 months seems a lot more doable. I just think it's a great way to get bigger ticket items that you wouldn't be able to afford all at once. The nice thing about the payments is that they are interest free and, majority of the time, TSC offers the coins for issue price. The same guy who does the Coin Show owns Canadian Coin and Currency, so it's almost the same as just buying from his site, except you have the option to spread the money over a few months.
Sometimes it's even better to shop with TSC, too. The 2013 O Canada 1/2 Oz. set was available from them on subscription, just like the Mint, at issue price of $39.95 except each coin came with a clamshell and box and you still got the wood box to store all twelve.
I'm not sure why people feel you are paying more than what they are worth or that you will regret paying for it each month....if the coin is offered at the same issue price of the Mint, then you don't have to regret anything.

It is interest free until it is put on your credit card and then you pay interest. The Shopping Channel will not charge you interest but the credit card company will.

I like to watch the Coin Show mainly to see the coins but actually buying from them? Generally, their offers are over priced or available elsewhere and their shipping is usually prohibitive (thought they have free shipping over $150 right now).
For the most part, their blockbuster and shopstoppers are collections of coins and sets that are widely available at huge discounts and cheaper than TSC. I can't believe that Mr. Bromberg doesn't know that much of the 'facts' he lays out are untrue. He talks about sell-out in days of coins that have not sold out or took months to sell. He talks about every coin like they all appreciate and so on. Either he is being deliberately deceitful or he is the most unknowledgeable collector and store owner in the country.
But, my biggest issue is the notion that spreading a purchase out over a number of months is a good idea. We all have different ideas about spending on a hobby by I would never buy a coin I could not afford to pay for immediately. If you are taking advantage of the installments as a matter of good cash management then fine, but the monthly payments as a reason to buy a coin is not something that makes any under any circumstance sense to me. And buying anything, never mind a luxury item, on a credit card while incurring interest makes me shudder.

That applies to ANYTHING you buy with you CC and you don't pay the full statement next month. If you pay the full amount you used, you pay nothing of interests.

@arianzos I was just going by what pocket change 50 was stating about letting the buyer pay over 6 months that it would be interest free. I hope you were credited at some point for the tax you paid.I had to phone each time I ordered coin from them to credit my CC.There was once I had to phone 5 or 6 times to get them to do it.It was at least $25.00 they owed me.

TSC must have had at least 5-10% of the entire colourized polar bear mintage. At least they were selling them at issue price if anyone is interested.

@arianzo The taxes disappear once you go through the checkout process (but before you hit the 'submit order' button). I think it just adds the taxes as a default, but when you start the checkout process it realizes it's a no tax item. A little weird and annoying, but you won't pay any unnecessary taxes.

Well, what I understand is that the total amount is divided in 6 payments (months). So, are charged your CC every month. If you pay the full amount of your CC you don't pay interest. The Bank get a commission of about 3-5% from the seller from each transaction, so they make money just with the fees, they don't need interests. I didn't complete the checkout. If I see the taxes there, I don't place my order! I tried that 5 minutes ago. I'm at Step 4 next to the button "Submit order" and my taxes are there. Maybe the system is not configured properly as I've 1 item that does should be taxed but they calculate the taxes from the full amount, and that's wrong.

Ah, that may be a problem. I know they charge PST on everything, so if you're in a province with PST you will get charged and they charge tax on shipping, but I've never been charged tax on pure silver from them. Interesting...that one item may be the problem. Hmm...I wonder what you would do here.

Are you in a province with PST? I'm in SK, so I have to pay 5% PST, but my taxes are only $1.79 on this same item.
