Resent events has caused me to search my old penny rolls.I have found 4 pennys with the same error.this scratch which I first took as a staple scratch stops & starts on each side of the 7&0.To me this proves it was there before strike.I wandered how this made it through strike with out being healed by strike.Well I weighed coins. 1 = 3.0
2 = 3.1
1 = 3.2
I can't figure where exactly this would accur. I think it would have been done to planchet before strike but its in the same spot for all 4.its a inny not an outy

without images - I doubt if anyone can give you an accurate assessment. from the description - it sound like post mint damage, but again - it is impossible to have any degree of certainty - without photo images (or at least scans).

Looks like a struck through debris on the die. Note how the scratches are raised? That is die polishing on the die. The areas in question are incuse in the coin. So something was on the die during the strike. I seen this before.

Thanks Coop . I couldn't get picture of whole coin there is a lot of polishing marks.So this could be the actual debris from the polishing pressed into die.
how should I write this on 2x2 just struck through?Da! I see it.
