This is a coin that has been posted here before and now has come somewhere it can be fully appreciated. This coin is one of many dupondii that featue the longest legend on any roman coin. The best one has the longest reverse legend too...this ones is just the expansion of SPQR.   Id write out the legend but its veeery long (and isn't perfectly readable on this example, to say the least) |

IMPERATOR CAESAR NERVA TRAIANO OPTIMVS [PRINCEPS] AVGVSTVS GERMANICVS DACICVS MAXIMVS PARTHICVS PONTIFEX MAXIMVS TRIBVNICIA POTESTAS CONSVL SEX* PATER PATRIA
*As in the latin for Six
In English:
The Emperor, Caesar Nerva Trajan, the best Augstus, victor over the Germans, Dacians and Parthians (technically the German, the Parthian and the Greatest Dacian), Highest Priest, Tribune of the Plebs, Sixth time consul, the peoples father.
A bit of a mouthful, I reckon. The longest legend on the reverse of a coin with this legend is a great one (ARMENIA ET MESOPOTAMIA IN POTESTATEM PR REDACTAE). Ill be keeping an eye out for that one.

Must have been a hassle for the die engraver to make all those tiny letters. Here's my Trajan with the long obverse legend. Not the best but most of it is there:  |

Holy cow, you're right! That is one looooooooong legend, even abbreviated!
Bet the engravers didn't like that.
