I can't tell if it has ever been cleaned but it looks like a strong Au58

That's a nice coin. I don't know what would keep it from MS to be honest. I don't see any wear/rub on the chest or thigh, and I thought these were the key "high spots". Only thing that grabbed my attention was the talons and the branch on the reverse. I assume this is a weak strike? Sorry, not familiar with the series to know if that was common, and still not great at grading in general.
It's a very "clean" coin, so I am always hesitant to think it was not altered per say like Grace mentioned.

I messed with the brightness and contrast to show the slight rub a little better. I see the coin as an AU50. The rub line down the leg and the rub on the eagle's breast feathers seems to me to be a little to much for a higher grade.

Thank you all. I thought AU, anywhere from 50 to 58 (at least that's the price I bought them at...)
Good to get validation.

that is a very nice AU58 Walker. I'm just getting into this coin series and these suckers in AU or above can be difficult to grade due to the weak strikes and worn dies.

I'm not familiar enough with the series in high grade to give a definitive answer, but obviously the coin is, at minimum, AU. Even with Susan's adjustment of the contrast and brightness of the photos, I'm unsure of "rub" on the thigh, breast or eagle...could be, and if it's there, then the coin can't go MS. Thanks for posting...always nice to get some practice.

Coin is now in hand.
Much better than the pic/scan. Bright luster, get the "cartwheel" effect when rotating in the light.
Got this 1941 and two 1944's in same condition for $35. I'm pleased.

Wow. Are Walkers graded that tightly? I've noted some pretty skritchy coins in 63-64 holders.

AU55. Basing my post on the rubs on the leg and the breast feathers
