Hello all, I dont know whether I sould be happy or disappointed: I made a bid on a denarius of julius caesar, and won it for just 45 euro's incl shipping! This is ridiculously low so I cant believe its genuine. Its a spanish seller, and I think he found it by himself. e is offering a lot of coins of serveral ages with the same sand look, which convinces me he found them. The description was, like all his coins in spanish, Julio Cesar. I know the picture is very bad but I still have hopes its genuine! fingers crossed! If so, I would be VERY VERY happy! Weight seems right: 3,7 grams Edited by Dutchgulden 12/04/2013 5:20 pm

The picture looks porours. I cant say much on the design, but the letters and the beading looks fine. Id have kept clear of it though, doesn't sit right with me. I think you'll have tro post better pictures when it arrives - its a very commonly copied issue.

The picture is a bit small. Anyway that you can enlarge it? From what I can see without better pictures I have doubts that it's real.

Hard to say with those pictures. The shape of the elephant doesn't look quite right but I'm not an expert on the series. Have you checked the fake reports on Forvm and ForgeryNetwork?

No disrespect and I dont want to sound mean but you definitely should have checked the fake reports and/or learned how to spot fakes of this type before you bid, not after winning it. At the very least, posted it on here before the auction ended so we could have given you the opinions we are giving you now, so then you would have been able to make a more educated choice (dont worry we try not to bid on coins that other members are planning on getting). Sure you could contact the seller and tell them it is a fake and demand a refund, but that may turn into a hassle or a bigger issue (seller not believing you and so not refunding, for example). Again, I'm not trying to seem mean or condescending, just giving you some advice to help you in the future.
As for the coin itself, it looks more counterfeit than real from the photo. I would have enough doubt about it to stay clear of it.

Dutch, it might be the photo, but your elephant only seems to have 3 legs? The closest I have found is at http://www.coinproject.com/coin_det...?coin=286260and the elephant is quite different. Is 45 euros too much to pay for a fake example? Will he accept a return?
