I like it, even if the toning is artificial or not. Left alone, this sort of tone colouring will slowly disappear. I you wish to keep the toning as is, immediate steps must be taken to preserve it, because this sort of toning is very delicate. An airtight capsule or similar is necessary to achieve this. I have played around with freshly minted cupronickel coins by gentle heating on a kitchen hot plate to achieve some very interesting rainbow effects. Since this can be relatively easy to achieve, watch out for ebay scams.

I love you like a brother Mate but I have to disagree . All "Sparkalarily" on the obverse and purple on the reverse. Just looks plain ugly and contrived to my old eyes Mate. I heave NEVER seen an Australian silver coin toned on one side but not the other. Anyway this toning is only transient, the coin will eventually go black anyway

I have a coin like this, it is a 1949 dollar sadly it is almost black on the reverse but tilt it the right way and you see some wicked colors and the obverse is almost untouched. It is an MS 66 anyway I'll say MS 64* for the monster toned Morgan.
Feel free to call me Will.

I don't mind the one-sided toning, and I think that adds to the legitimacy of the toning when you keep in mind that lots of Morgans sat around in mint bags for a half century where one side could touch the fabric and the other side would not. With that said, the toning colors and pattern still give me pause. I think it graded 66 though. Beautiful coin either way.

I am not usually big into toned coins but I LOVE this one. I really don't have enough knowledge to comment on whether or not the toning is natural or artificial, but it is a looker either way! As for a guess of the grade I would say MS-65.

Natural or not, I stay away from these. Don't care for this type of toning.

That coin did not come out of a mint bag with that toning on it. I don't care what anyone says.

Don't forget, coins can be toned in the slab too. This one wasn't though or both sides would be toned.

I think it is ok. I see plenty of luster underneath, and have seen coins like this in PCGS/NGC slabs before. It is a nice monster toned coin. Guessing MS-66. Nice coin!

MS66....Pretty coin! This coin didn't tone like this in the Mint bag or in a coin roll. Most toned coins are toned on 'one side only' except for 2 sided rim toning. I suspect this coin has been toned by laying on a surface that promoted this. Hard to say if this was done on purpose to achieve this effect.
