Acquired these two 1878 Type II Morgans yesterday and am having fits attributing them. Help "Pros from Dover"...

I think they are both 83's. the olive branch is complete and there is not a dash beneath the first 8.

edit - I'm not so sure about the second one. The "R" in pluribus doesn't look right for an 83. Back to VAMworld.

You are definitely correct on the first one Dave. Thanks! The second one, however is not an 83. The nostril is complete, "LIBERTY" is not doubled, date is not doubled, fourth star is broken and there are significant die cracks on the reverse. Still looking.. PG

The second may be a 45.

VAM-83 and VAM-45 are what they are Nice coins!
