Hi Jolson I am new to this community however have been a collector for many years/ a few Generations which means I have many stories good and bad! The 1921 and 1928-P Peace included and starring personally. I think the obverse has been whizzed (radial marks) but I hope I'm mistake because she looks gem otherwise, I'm still getting used to pictures vs in hand inspection so I'm interested in other comments and your conviction on this coin. Very nice picture of a rare Peace dollar!! Thanks! GG

Realistically, the photos provided are too small to make an objective assessment. From a distance, it looks like a better grade coin, however pics in the neighborhood of 600x600 per side would be more helpful.

The obverse does have swirling hairlines indicating a cleaning/whizzing. The reverse appears unmolested. AU Details - Improperly Cleaned is my guess.

I agree with what BH1964 said. There are several hairlines from 6 to 9 o'clock. Either whizzed, or my guess is wiped with something abrasive. I am assuming this picture was taken under incandescent lighting? I bought a few little LED lamps and up close they will really show hairlines.

Thanks everyone, how much does the suspected cleaned front lower the value? I mean it is sill a 1928P Peace dollar and if you minus those whirl marks then overall it is in pretty good shape. Any thoughts?

AU-Details as the obverse has been obviously cleaned ... somewhat harshly IMHO. Quote: how much does the suspected cleaned front lower the value? The cleaning is not 'suspected' ... it is real and obvious in your photos. This is not a certifiable coin ... and as such many of us avoid having them in our collections. An honest surfaces AU 1928 Peace dollar is worth on the order of $350 ... this example is worth whatever someone is willing to pay ... David

To answer your question: $200 or more as-is. This is a key date and desirable even with the cleaning. Harshly cleaned, AU Detailed pieces regularly bring $200 retail.

Awesome. Thank you! I did not mean to use the word "suspect" to imply you don't know what you are doing; It came out wrong... my intent was to say that since this coin is suspect (as in flawed) what would it do to the value. I really appreciate everyone's help.
