The mint has back ordered the Clad Half Uncirculated.
Today's mint totals for the coin show it has sold 24,438 and the 2011 Army Half sold 39,461....
Looks like there will be a new record low number sold.

Are you talking about the Kennedy or the 5 Star Generals?

@IndianGoldEagle: I believe he is referring to the Five Generals half-dollar.
It will be interesting to chart the "last minute" orders over the coming weeks. It's likely that a good number of collectors/speculators will be checking the weekly sales figures (released every Tuesday) for the rest of the month to decide whether they should jump in and order a few "extras."

I should have stated the Clad Generals Commemorative.
Commems...except that they put the Clad Half on back order status today as well - which would indicate they don't have a whole lot of these left to me!

I wouldnt be surprised to see them just kill it all together in the next few days.

@Doug58s: You could be correct. Whenever I see the message about a delay in shipping, I figure that they are making/packaging more and that it will be a few weeks before they have quantity that are ready to ship.

In my humble opinion deservedly so ... the modern clad commemorative half dollars have failed to capture the interest of the collecting public.
There are few greater fans of commemorative half dollars than me ... and I completely ignore the modern series.
A total mintage of 24,438 (likely to increase) would be quite a healthy number for the classic silver half dollar series ...
I doubt that this coin will gain much numismatic value as a result of the lower than normal mintage totals ... demand is just not there.

When checking sales numbers on the clad 5-Star half, don't forget to add the totals for the Profiles Collection Set also. As of Dec 1 I see 23,419 single coins and 8,783 sets for a total of 32,202 coins. They weren't selling well so guess they decided to put some in sets to help move them.

The 5-Star General UNC Dollar has a very low mintage as well.

The latest sale figure shown that the clad half is projected to be lower than the 2012 clad half. There's only 1.5 week left from the last sale figure update, which comprise of 2 major holiday of the year..... I don't believe the number of sale will pick up that much.
I missed the 2012 clad half US Army coin so I am getting extra of this one to latter trade/exchange for the one I am missing.

Looking at the sales figures and assuming the mint will also end the 5* special set next week - it might be worth getting another 1 of those to resell at a future date. It is a really nice set and will have several low mintage items to draw from...

I placed two separated orders yesterday evening and this afternoon, I got the email notifications from the mint saying that both of my orders are "shipped". This is probably the quickest turn-around I've ever seen from USMint. May be they are just eager to get rid of these coins?
Also, I realized that the Profile Collection set is cheaper than the combine price for the Unc $1 Silver & the Unc $0.50 Clad and you get the extra bronze medal as a bonus + nice display case for the set. I will have to get one then. Yes, this set is also on the Last Chance page too. The Unc $1 Silver is not the lowest mintage but quite low.
Btw, I saw all the First Spouse of 2012 are on the Last Chance page too. Some of their mintage are quite low.... may worth considering for some of us (not me, out of my budget for the moment).

I bought a clad and I have another in the profile set.
I got all my uncirculated commemorative coins for the year but I'm very very sorry to say people are tired of military themed commemoratives and although I love the Girl Scouts, I really didn't see them gaining a lot of sales.
And it's a real big shame because these are very good organizations and could use some support. I'm glad to have donated to these organizations and received some beautiful coins.
I was really impressed with the 5 star general profile set, its much larger than an index card sized pamphlet with coins on the bottom I thought it was going to be and that MacArthur bronze is pretty neat.
The Girl Scout coin is wonderful. I'm actually looking forward to the Civil Rights coin coming out in a few weeks but I was a little saddened that they didn't go with King's "Let Freedom Ring" design, but this coin looks ok. I'll have to wait and see it in my hand before making a judgment.
Opening Day is right around the corner and I haven't seen MLB or anyone mention the upcoming Baseball commemorative coins. It will probably be another year of low sales.
Talking about low commemorative mintage, I just saw on one of the coin sites that the 2018 Korean immigration $1 coin is seeking a total mintage of only 10k! I was really excited about the theme but then I saw that mintage number and wasn't happy.

I agree. I like mine more after having it in my hands. The pictures do not really show how nice a set it is.
