With the recent sell out of the 2013 proof gold buffalo, we may have a new lowest mintage on hand.

Looks like it right now. The last sales were only about 300 lower than 08 so it could have passed that but should definitely be one of the lowest.

During the gold rush of the RP this past summer, there were a handful of comments that the sleeper was the regular '13 Buffalo proof. On another board someone made the snarky comment that "everyone and their mother's buying one," because of said comments. Apparently not.

It's interesting that for every 100 RP listings there was only 1 '13 PR listing last week on ebay. Those will start coming out of the woodwork since the coin is appreciating by the hour. Congratulations to those who got one or more before sellout. It's probably not going to overtake the '08 proof as the highest priced coin in the series, but rather will bring down the price of the '08 a bit in the short term. Perhaps in the longer term it may cost more. Sets up some interesting possibilities for the '14 proof Buffalo coin...

Bizybackson,

I agree with what you've said. It will be interesting to see if the 2013 coin, assuming it does become the lowest mintage, price appreciates to the levels of the 2008 coin. I suspect the 2008 price will decline while the 2013 coin will increase significantly. There has already been a big move on the ebay prices, but who knows if the increase has staying power.

In any event, these are some beautiful coins.

Hmmm... Maybe I should have gotten the proof Buffalo apposed to the RPB. Time will tell. The 2013 UNC Buffalo sold out at 7,326 coins, maybe this will be the sleeper of the year.
