This is a detailed walk through of my first experience with PCGS to the present day. It is a little much I think, but I wanted to include as much information as I could for those who are curious. Sorry in advance for not having pictures, I didn't take pictures prior to sending the coins in. I thought about it and really did not want to take the time for all the coins. If you would like to know any specifics about the coins or the process, I would be happy to share. I cut out the submission numbers and a few other things to clean up the post.
It always seems to be a topic here, so I thought I would share my first experience with PCGS. I have been a member of NGC in the past and sent several coins in over the years with some pretty good results. I wanted to try PCGS, so I joined at the Platinum level. After a few weeks of buying additional coins to send in, I started the process of narrowing down my submission coins. I wanted to send in some type coins I purchased in the last month, some graded dollars I have purchased over the last few years, and a number of other dollars I picked up to send in.
My grading skills are better on some coins than others. I would say
Morgan dollars, is a strong area for me followed by a moderate knowledge of
Barber coinage and V-nickels.
To determine what I was actually going to send in, I evaluated the condition of each coin to determine if:
A. The raw type coins had XF or better details.
B. Raw Morgans had at least MS63/64 potential or proof like qualities without obvious signs of damage or cleaning.
C. Graded coins had potential to be upgraded.
D. Graded coins would benefit being in PCGS holders.
I went through my packet pcgs sent me. I started to use the submission sheets included, then I found the online submission forms on the PCGS website. I created approximately 4 submission types, which are all listed with the coins below.

I wanted to submit all 4 orders in one shipment. So I followed the instructions about submitting multiple orders for one shipment. I then made sure I had the coins in the recommended bigger submission flips. I put each submission in a zip lock bag with the coins labeled and the submission form. I then shipped it off 11/21 registered as recommended and because I submitted some expensive coins.
PCGS sent me a confirmation 11/27 saying the received the coins. The orders numbers were then available to see online, however unlike NGC, you could not see what the orders actually consist of. I then, put it at the back of my mind so I could try and not wear out the website. I did realize that I forgot to include my voucher for the 8 free submissions

. As soon as I realized it, I emailed PCGS and asked them if it was a problem. The next day I received a emailed response in which support said they had the number from my voucher and that was all the needed

.
I checked the status a week or so later, but tried not to over do it and on 12/6, my brother asked me if I had heard anything about my coins. I then got on to check and they had posted the results from my 8 voucher coins.

*Thoughts about the results - I really can't be disappointed, all of these coins with the exception of the 77cc dime, I had a very minimal investment in. All of the coins were purchased from dealers raw in the last few months. The only coin in which I was disappointed was the 77cc dime. However, I knew the coin was dipped and borderline AU, but thought "What the hell, I will send it off". Very pleased (of course) with the 03 V-Nickel and AU
Barber dimes.

*Thoughts about the results - I am happy with the upgrade of the 91CC dollar. The coin was in a green holder, not a rattler. The 1886-O wasn't a long shot, but it was worth a try. I really didn't send it in having the expectation of a upgrade, but it would have been nice!
I just thought I would share my experience to this point. So far, I have been happy with the timeline and service from PCGS. If there is interest, I will update as soon as I see more results.
Thanks and I hope this helps in any future decisions.
