On 02 Nov 2013 this buyer purchased http://www.ebay.com/itm/321240458228?ru=http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html%3F_sacat=0&_okw=&_oexkw=&_adv=1&_udlo=&_udhi=&_ftrt=901&_ftrv=1&_sabdlo=&_sabdhi=&_samilow=&_samihi=&_sadis=200&_fpos=&_fsct=&LH_SALE_CURRENCY=0&_sop=10&_dmd=1&_ipg=200&_nkw=321240458228&_rdc=1 from my wife. We received positive feedback indicating the buyer had received the coin and was happy on 06 Nov 2013. The buyer then proceeded to reverse the charge on their credit card. Quote: Hello ****,
We were recently notified that a payment you received was reversed by the buyer's bank. A bank reversal can be requested by the bank itself or the bank account holder.
Transaction Id: 6B63261717987354M Transaction Amount: $62.95 CAD Email: rockyhills59@rogers.com

We are reviewing the bank reversal and will contact you again via email with information on what to do next. You may be asked to provide additional information about this transaction.

Do you have any other recourse? This just seems like theft to me, very unfortunate.

She'll try calling them to appeal later today but based on my past experience with Paypal's so called 'seller protection' I'm not optimistic.

Just curious, what was the buyers reason for reversal?

No reason provided. Just what's in the Paypal case above. No response to email sent asking what was going on. Quote: -----Original Message----- From: **** Sent: December-10-13 11:17 AM To: 'rockyhills59@rogers.com' Subject: FW: We need additional information : Case # PP-002-816-829-437
Good morning. Just wondering if you were aware of this action by your bank? On 06 Nov 2013 you left positive feedback indicating you had received the coin and were pleased with it. Thank you for our attention to this matter. ****.

Also note that the buyer did not go through ebay or Paypal even though they were within the 45 day window.

She tried using eCrater but no customer traffic. If you want to sell a large volume of coins then you're stuck with ebay. And they force you to use Paypal. The classic rock and a hard place problem. To be fair, Paypal is usually good if you're the buyer in most cases. However even there it can be problematic. See my previous post on this thread https://goccf.com/t/162394

Shameful,no different than than breaking into your house and stealing coins. Did you message the buyer to ask if they will return the coin?

I guess paypal is not helping because of no tracking?

You should totally take this matter further (RCMP or ...).

We'll be pursuing it with ebay and Paypal. I wouldn't expect the police to do anything unless this was much bigger. It took a fair bit of time to just get the report filed when we got 2 chunks of concrete instead of $2,500 worth of gold and silver coins. Then it cost us $50 to get a copy of that report to force Paypal to reimburse us under buyer protection. But the police told us up front there wasn't anything they could actually do about it other than take the report. Unfortunately fraud like this is part of the cost of doing business online. You need to factor it in to your item and shipping charges and DO NOT count on Paypal seller protection. (We do this by setting a limit of $60 for shipping without tracking, and charging an extra dollar shipping for items between $26 and $60). Best you can do is try to get the word out so the fraudster has to create a new account and start over.

Also be aware that Paypal seller protection does NOT cover loss or damage during shipping. You have to buy the shipper insurance to cover those cases.
