Hi All,

A friend of mine has a bill from 1954 it's the devil heads $1.00

The weird part is the front is the standard green, but the back in printed in the same blue ink the $5 dollar was that year.

Has anyone seen something like this before in your searches? Any idea of value?

We'd need to see it to comment. Damaged or counterfeit instantly come to mind.

It's hard to tell the difference in colour from the pics, but in person it's clearly green on the front and blue (like a $5) on the back. There are no runs in the ink or blemishes of any kind in the images, but it's been circulated and is in used condition.

Quick note: His grandfather got this bill in 1954 and he looked like this ( he thought he had been given more change, but realized it was a 1 or 5)...There's no variation in the color either ... A real mystery, will try to upload some better pics soon!

Hi bridgeypie.. Welcome to the Forum..

The 1954 $5.00 has a dark blue color, the dollar you are showing doesn't seem to have that color on the reverse.

Not, in the photo anyway, doesn't look any different than the front to me.

If you take the bill out of the bag and take a picture of it beside a 5 dollar bill it would be easier to see the color difference.

Yes, Please take a closer photo of it next to even a polymer 5, or journey.....Pennyman is smart....Errors similar are listed in catalogue,,,but not really for 1954 notes.....?someting else? we hav to figure out Off set printing,,Double printing, or what is error first..

For at least a short period of time in the past, this note has been in a highly acidic or alkaline atmosphere.
The differential discoloration suggests this to me.
