1983 Penny, Not Sure If Wear Or Error

uman2 Valued Member United States 80 Posts	Posted 12/19/2013 11:50 pm I agree with biokemist I have seen alot of these that look exactly the same thats why I agree because if it were grease why would there be so many like this in the same spot maybe the grease can stick around a little bit but you would think it would be squeezed out or stick to the coin some and would be removed after a coulple strikes. I does kind of look like someone could have left a slanted area of grease as they tried to wipe the grease away! Do they even use grease is anyone sure I would think an oil would be better but I guess grease might stick around longer. Report this Post to the Staff
