I think I understand your question. I think you are questioning how it can be struck out of collar but still show a rim on the unstruck area. After blanks are punched out they go through the upset process where they get a proto rim. At this point they are called planchets. Then when the planchets are struck into a coin a more prominent rim is formed called the design rim. The rim you see on this coin is the proto rim.
