Honestly, I don't really have any questions about this coin. I just wanted to show off my nice, new 1816 Mexican 8 reales. It is of proper weight (26.89g), has the overlaps 180 degrees across from one another, and seems pretty legitimate to me. Would you guys agree that it's a solid VF?

Ya I'd say it's a VF. There seems to be a planchet defect above the bust.

Looks fine to me. The line above the head is a die crack where a slight displacement of the die is starting.

Thanks, everyone.

I actually paid $65 for it. Do you guys think that I did ok?

$65 is the price you should be paying for a full VF and $50 is closer to the value of this coin. However it is still a very nice piece and you should be proud to have it in your collection

Nice Ferdinand 8 and I am sure it will be a happy coin in your collection. Always nice to find these with the center section (Bust and Shield side) so well struck up. They are so often found with a very soft strike.

Thanks for the input, everyone!

zxcccxz- Really, you don't think that this would at least make a VF-20 (US standards)?
