Interesting. But I skipped over most of it to look at next years product schedule :0

The obvious winner in the subscriptions is the 5oz ATB, a whopping $15.50 off per coin. It makes sense for the Mint to "mint to order" so as not to get stuck with excess inventory at year's end or having quick sellouts on unexpectedly popular products.

Not really good deal unless you routinely buy there more expensive products like the 100 bag coins or 5oz ATB. They charge you a shipping charge each time so you can end up paying multiple shipping charges through out the year which would eat up any saving you may get and may actually cost you more. I generally make 2 big orders a year and get eveything I want and only shipping charges twice.

Silver's down $12 an oz and they only knocked off $15.50 from the 5 oz coin? The 2013 1 oz ASE was 52.95 - $20 over melt, the 2014 is still 52.95 - $32 over melt!

That would be the premium for a proof finish coin but I agree it should be a tad lower The 2013 W burnished ASE was released May 28th at a cost of $48.95..spot silver was around $22.50 so $26 over spot The 2014 is priced at $43.95 (minus 10% $38.50) and will be released in May so spot silver is an unknown...say $20 so $18-19 over spot. The W looks to be cheaper relative to spot in 2014

I find it interesting that people continue to compare a proof ASE coin to the price of melt. I don't see anyone naive enough to go to a coin shop and try and buy them at spot plus a small premium. Nor do I expect people to be selling them at spot plus a small mark up. If your doing it - your in the wrong hobby.... The same for the Uncirculated ASE - these aren't the bullion coins and the price with 10% off is a bonus. I did end up subscribing to the silver sets - the ATB and the the ASE's. Even with the shipping price included at different times - these end up being a good deal. Several of the other offerings are better combined for lower shipping fees.

Last your I subscribed for the ATB S-minted quarters, the 40 coin roll, the 100 coin bag, and the 3 roll S-P-D set. After the first round of quarters were released, the Mint shipped each one separately adding shipping to each item, even though the items were released on the same day. With that knowledge, I now subscribe with 3 ASE proofs, 3 UNC ASE, and the ATB 5oz.

I wonder how long until people do the same thing they did with the Presidential dollars when they had free shipping. They would place large orders and take them right to the bank and collect the free money from credit card rewards/cash back.

That's right! I forgot about that issue...the face plus free shipping was d/c'd because of that...This would be the same thing (plus 5 cents ) Since they would only ship 500 every few months or so it would be a great way to get cash back (or airline mileage) AND get dollar coins circulating...use them for everyday purchases..or you could be lazy and just bring them to a bank but that's kinda being a weenie

Wondering if you can somehow combine the 5% bulk program discount with the 2014 subscription program together somehow with qualifying items?
I'm assuming the Mint is keeping the bulk program for 2014.

Isn't the 5% bulk discount program for dealers only?

Quote: Isn't the 5% bulk discount program for dealers only? Yes, but you dont have to be a David Lawerence to qualify. If you bought in volume it looks like an ebay store could get you into the program since it does specifically say online as an option. https://www.usmint.gov/bulk/BulkPur...orm_2011.pdf
